Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani and his son, Anant Ambani, recently visited and offered prayers at the Somnath Mahadev temple in Gujarat on Saturday, January 4. 

The father-son duo, Jalabhishek and offered “worship material and clothes”, according to the news agency ANI, citing Somnath Trust. The report also cited that Ambani prayed for peace, well-being and prosperity in the nation.

Somnath Temple

Somnath Temple is located in Prabhas Patan near Veraval in Saurashtra on the western coast of Gujarat. According to popular belief, the temple is the first among the twelve jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva, hence an important pilgrimage and tourist spot for people all around the world coming to Gujarat.

The news agency also cited an inscription written in Sanskrit on the body of one of the towers in the temple — one can travel to the south pole unobstructed by following the straight path from the tower in the south direction. 

Ambani’s Gujarat Tour 

Mukesh Ambani recently celebrated the 25 years of the Jamnagar refinery, as many celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan and politicians like Amit Shah took part in the anniversary. 

“Jamnagar is not only the best oil refinery in the world, it has the biggest gigafactory in the world, the biggest solar energy and fourth is the world’s artificial intelligence infrastructure. Besides, the digital factory will also be in Jamnagar,” Ambani told his employees, reported the news agency.

Before going to offer prayers at Somnath Temple, Ambani visited Dwarkadhish temple in Gujarat to offer prayers. A video on social media went viral which showed them entering and exiting the temple premises, Mint reported earlier. 

The father and son duo were seen entering the temple amid tight security, according to the report. The Ambani family makes frequent visits to the Dwarkadhish temple, this time they also visited the Somnath Temple.
