Is Oppo planning to launch new Find N5 soon? Check out its specs, expected release date and more
While the exact date of its launch is yet to be confirmed, an Oppo official seemingly asserted that the phone would launch early next year.
Responding to a Weibo user, Oppo’s Executive Director Zhou Yibao revealed that the company is on track to launch their latest Oppo Find N5, before the Find X8 Ultra. Its predecessor, the Oppo Find N3 was unveiled in October 2023. While the exact date of its launch is yet to be confirmed, an Oppo official seemingly asserted that the phone would launch early next year. Reports suggest that the release might take place before the Chinese New Year, which is on January 29, 2025.
While the phone is called Find N5 in the Chinese market, it will be branded as OnePlus Open 2 in the overseas market. OnePlus Open came as a rebranded version of the predecessor phone, the Find N3. It is expected that the new model will compete directly with the foldable phones of Samsung.
If OnePlus or Oppo launch the new foldable model in January, it could prove to be in direct competition with the sales of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which was released on July 24 earlier this year. In addition, if the sales turn out to be a success, then the model will continue to give stiff competition to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is expected to be launched in the second half of next year.
As buyers await the release of the model, it is expected that the new Find N5 will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. If this stands true, then it will give the model an upper hand over the Samsung foldable phones that use the less powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Also, this could endow a bump in performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the previous model. However, it must be noted that concrete information about the hardware specifications of the model has not yet been revealed.
Considering that the Oppo Find N3 has a 48MP main rear camera, the newer model is expected to carry the same, if not a better camera unit. As a result, the phone should be capable of offering a 2K resolution display. Additional expected features include support for wireless magnetic charging and a thinner and lighter build compared to its previous counterpart. An IPX-8 rating will make the device water-resistant.
